Fighting Halloween Bugs

Worried about all of the sugary side effects from this Halloween and the upcoming holiday season? Here are a few tips to help you and your family keep those happy smiles healthy!

The Right Time

It’s fine to have a couple pieces of candy or have some sweets, but it is best if done right after eating a meal. Saliva is produced while eating and helps wash away sugar from teeth, making it easier to protect your teeth versus grabbing from a big candy bowl in the middle of the day.

Reduce Snacking

People who snack frequently are more prone to cavities and even more so when they snack on sweets. Avoid snacking too often and focus on eating more meals with protein and good fats to keep you fueled throughout the day!

Choose Wisely

Hard candy and anything sticky creates greater risk for tooth decay. Choose wisely when eating candy

Make a Plan and Stick To It

Having a plan is a great way to control those candy cravings! Try letting your kids pick a few pieces of their favorite candy and then trading the rest for a cheap fun toy or something they would enjoy!

Water, Water, Water

Drink lots of water to help wash your teeth regularly and increase your overall health!
